We had the pleasure of hosting our final wedding of the year this weekend, and it was nothing short of magical. The couple added subtle holiday touches with lush greenery, deep reds, and dark blues, while the bridal party stunned in red dresses. They displayed our Christmas tree behind the sweetheart table serving as the perfect festive backdrop. This celebration inspired us to share some tips for 2025 and 2026 brides planning their own winter wedding.

Whether you’re dreaming of a full holiday theme or just want cozy winter wonderland vibes, here are seven ideas to help you create the perfect seasonal celebration:

1. Christmas Tree Backdrop

A beautifully adorned Christmas tree is a show-stopping decor piece that embodies the magic of the holiday season and brings warmth and a festive touch. Use it as the centerpiece behind your sweetheart table, near the dance floor, or as part of your ceremony decor. Incorporate your wedding colors or personalized ornaments for a custom look.

2. Twinkling Lights and Candlelit Romance

Transform your wedding barn or venue space into a dreamy winter haven with twinkle lights, string lights, lanterns and candles. These elements create a warm and romantic glow that’s perfect for a December wedding.

3. Cozy Hot Cocoa or Cider Bar

Warm beverages are a must for winter weddings! Treat your guests to a hot cocoa or cider bar with fun toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, peppermint sticks, and cinnamon.

4. Seasonal Greenery and Florals

Bring the beauty of winter to your decor with seasonal greenery like evergreen, pinecones, and holly. Pair these with florals like red roses and white amaryllis for a festive touch. Frosted branches and gold accents can add a modern, elegant vibe to your arrangements. You can also add greenery and seasonal accents to your sweetheart table.

5. Holiday-Inspired Entertainment

Infuse your celebration with holiday cheer by incorporating unique entertainment. Have your DJ or band play a mix of holiday classics and modern hits can set a magical tone.

Fun Idea: Add a holiday-themed photo booth with props like Santa hats, reindeer antlers, or stockings labeled “Bride” and “Groom.”

6. Personalized Winter Favors

Send your guests home with a thoughtful keepsake that reflects the season. Ideas include ornaments engraved with your wedding date, mini bottles of sparkling cider, or locally made holiday-scented candles. These favors double as charming decor accents during your celebration.

7. Winter Ceremony Details

Elevate your ceremony with subtle seasonal touches. Think snow-dusted aisles, chairs wrapped with garlands, or even a faux snow send-off as you exit. These details create a whimsical winter wonderland vibe for your special day.
