Best ways to include your siblings in your wedding for your North Carolina Wedding
Of course, your partner completes you, but only your siblings really get you. They’ve been there through it all, good and bad hair days, and your first love, as well as your first heart break. So, in honor of National Siblings Day, we’ve rounded up all the fun ways you can include your brothers and sisters in your big day. Even if they put some embarrassing childhood photos in the slideshow at your rehearsal dinner or try to humiliate you during their toast, you know you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Your siblings have been by your side since day one, so why not ask them to stand by your side as you say “I do”? Including your bro or sis in the bridal party ensures they’ll be there whenever you need them, from those early-stage planning problems to the last drink at the after-party. You can also include your nieces or nephews as the ring bearer and flower girls to honor your siblings family.
2. Have them host.
Can your sister throw an epic party? Give her the task of throwing your bridal shower or bachelorette bash! Is your brother a grill master? He might be the man to host a backyard BBQ rehearsal dinner. Either way, your siblings know you best so they’ll absolutely put something special together in your honor.
3. Have them say “yes” to the dress.
Of course your sister will be with you as you try on dresses, but why not invite your brother to stop by after you’ve found THE dress? You know his approval means the world to you, so give him a chance to weigh in before the big day.
4. Send them a to-do list.
You know your siblings well enough to understand their special talents. If your brother likes to build, have him create your ceremony arch. If your sister likes to sew, have her add a little “something blue” to the inside of your dress. Your big day will feel so-personal when they are involved in all the little details.
5. Sing us a song…
If they’re more musically inclined, have them play a tune during the ceremony or sing a special song during the reception. There WILL be waterworks, so don’t forget the extra tissues!
6. Let them lead.
What about the officiant? Your brother or sister might just be the man or woman for the job. Not only will they feel honored, but your ceremony will also feel super sentimental. Don’t forget to make them an official officiant by getting them properly ordained.
7. Ask them to walk your grandparents down the aisle.
You will need someone to help escort those special people, especially if one of your grandparents is walking alone. This will not only help avoid any aisle mishaps, but there will be some pretty amazing photo ops.
8. Use something of theirs in your big day.
Are your siblings already married? Ask if you can use something special from their big day in yours! You could use your sister’s veil. Your brother’s cufflinks would be perfect for your “something borrowed.” We love flat-lay photos that beautifully showcase your “something borrowed” from your sibling.
